The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are rueing the mistakes that Jose Mourinho’s men have made over the last 12 months or so.
On the pitch. they’ve been very poor for long periods in the season, and though they finished 2nd in the Premier League, their lack of success is evident. They’ve struggled, at points, in every competition they’ve played in, and a loss in the FA Cup final served to further cement that.
However, their problems go beyond the start of the Premier League season. Many mistakes were made in the summer transfer window, too, with Jose Mourinho’s team lacking quality in several areas.
Fortunately, that could change this summer, with the Mirror reporting over the last few days that Mourinho could have over £250 million to spend this summer.
That could be just what he needs to help transform the team in his image, though he’ll have to be careful about who he signs.
With that said, here are 3 players that Man Utd should sign to turn into title contenders…
Man Utd need to sign a new left-back, that much is clear. Luke Shaw doesn’t appear to be in Mourinho’s plans, whilst Ashley Young isn’t the long-term option that they require.
Danny Rose, meanwhile, could be the perfect option for them.
He’s proven in the English top flight, and that’s important, but at 27-years-old, he’s also got the experience behind him – whilst also having a decent future ahead of him – that the club need.
They’d struggle to do better than him.
Another player that’s proven in England, Aaron Ramsey could be a fantastic option for the faltering Man Utd midfield.
They’ve struggled to make much of an impact in the heart of the pitch this season, which is a shame. Nemanja Matic has been solid, but Paul Pogba has been missing something.
Ramsey could help him out in the midfield by utilising his constant running, technique and pace to really make an impact for the club.
A trio including the Welshman, Pogba and Matic could be unstoppable.
Though the Man Utd attack is worth a lot of money, more goals are needed.
Romelu Lukaku can’t be expected to lead the line on his own every week, and so bringing in a proven forward makes sense.
Mertens would represent a decent option. He bagged 18 league goals this season, and he’s been one of the stars of the show over at Napoli.
At 31-years-old, he’d be able to offer a lot to the Man Utd first team.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
