So as Manchester City prepare for their first season in the champions league, according to sources at News of the world, they are on the verge of landing Undinese star Alexis Sanchez for (a minor) £25 million.
Apparently talks between the blue side of Manchester and the Serie A outfit are at an ‘advance’ stage and the Chilean international could be the first exciting new face at Eastland’s, ready to kick off what will certainly be set up to be a mouth-watering challenge for City.
The two Milan clubs and arch rivals Manchester United are also to be interested in the wing-man, but the attitude behind the scene is anything you can bid… we can bid higher.
It’s clear Manchester City’s owner Sheikh Mansour isn’t shy when it comes to splashing the cash in the transfer market, and if lifting the F.A cup cost him over £200 million in transfer fee’s, I shudder to think what he is going to dish out this summer.
They are looking to bag the quick paced youngster to add creativity to the middle of the park? I’m sorry, but with the likes of Johnson, Silva, Toure, Milner, and Viera, how is creativity a problem? Also with the likes of Dzeko, Balotelli and Tevez amongst the names I believe there will be plenty of players on their way out the door as there will be coming in.
The talent they will now attract with Champions League football, (not to mention bulking up their wage pack), I believe will take the Premiership by storm. (In the next two or three years)
I think Sanchez could offer Mancini a different approach but the problem they have at the club is keeping everyone happy. How can you expect to sign top quality and expect them to be a fringe player?
As far as the rumour goes, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him celebrating behind the back of the fans at the City of Manchester stadium next season.
What’s your take on City’s spending spree?
