The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to see a bit more of Davide Zappacosta this season…
The Italian has had to battle it out with Victor Moses so far, and hasn’t had much of a look in, but against Man City – could it be his time to shine?
The defender started against Qarabag in the Champions League and performed fantastically, and he repeated that level of performance in the League Cup against Nottingham Forest. In truth, in both of those games he was arguably one of Chelsea’s best performers, which is remarkable considering how recently he had joined the club. Now, having trained and got used the Blues’ methods, he’s never been more ready to take flight.
Victor Moses, meanwhile, seems to have lost that initial energy and excitement that his inclusion brought to the Chelsea first team, with the Nigerian perhaps getting too comfortable in his role. He’s been in decent form, but perhaps if Zappacosta is chosen ahead of him on this occasion, he will be pushed on to impress even more.
Zappacosta is also more efficient going forward, and with Man City’s leaky defence, this could be the perfect mix for Antonio Conte.
It’s certainly a very tough call for Conte, but it does seem to make sense.
The fans in the pub have been locked in debate all day long, but surely Zappacosta deserves the nod this time around? Have your say below and let us know!Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
