The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern think that David De Gea is Europe’s best goalkeeper…
The Spaniard has enjoyed a fantastic run of form between the sticks for the Red Devils, and often times he has been the difference maker.
Unsurprisingly, then, there was a cheer amongst our resident Red Devils when reports from the Sun regarding the future of the Spaniard emerged. According to the Sun, citing personal sources, David De Gea has made the step to move house – perhaps hinting that he is keen to remain in Manchester for the long-haul.
Perhaps more significantly, though, the source has also revealed to the Sun that De Gea has ‘long-term plans’ to stay at Man Utd – seemingly putting to rest any fear of an imminent departure.
De Gea’s future has, of course, often been under the microscope – stemming right back to a failed deadline day move to Real Marid a few years ago.
This is likely to calm the nerves of Man Utd fans, as losing De Gea would be a massive blow. He’s so important to Jose Mourinho’s side, and he could be pivotal this term as the Red Devils look to regain supremacy in the Premier League.
Man Utd cannot afford to lose De Gea, and so his decision to rent a new house in Manchester is a very positive step. It’s unlikely that he would go through all that effort just to leave again a few months later, and so there is real reason for optimism.
He’s arguably one of Europe’s best shot-stoppers, and much like Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal and Eden Hazard at Chelsea, he is the talisman of this side.
