26-year-old unlikely to feature for Chelsea vs Tottenham this weekend – report

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for some good news…

It has been a very bad few weeks for the fans in the pub, with Chelsea struggling to sign players during the close-season and failing to perform during the opening week of the campaign.

Unfortunately, there’s more disappointing news on the horizon. The fans in the Transfer Tavern were buoyed by news of a return for Eden Hazard, with the Belgian training with the Chelsea first team on Tuesday for the first time since suffering an injury earlier this summer.

However, his return is going to come too soon for Chelsea’s visit to Tottenham, and perhaps even their game against Everton too. The Evening Standard is reporting that the Belgian is ‘unlikely’ to feature in either game.

In truth, most fans recognised that the Belgian would need to be embedded slowly, but the prospect of facing Tottenham combined with the emphasis that is being placed on the game after such a poor start left them dreaming of a return.

Still, though, the fact that his return is on the horizon can only be a good thing.

Landlord’s Verdict

Chelsea really must be careful with Hazard.

Clearly, the Blues want him back and with good reason, but they cannot rush it. If he is brought back too soon, he is in with an increased chance of suffering another blow, and the Blues can’t afford this.

It’s going to be tough, but Conte must resist the temptation of starting him.
