The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting big changes at the Emirates this summer…
Arsene Wenger may be staying, but a change of tact is essential for the Frenchman this summer as he looks to rebuild his faltering Arsenal side. A finish outside of the top four will not be tolerated again, and so the manager will be focusing on improving his side this summer.
Seemingly, that improvement is going to come in the form of both incomings and outgoings, with the Sun reporting that one Arsenal defender could be set to leave this summer. According to the Sun, Kieran Gibbs’ Arsenal career is likely to be over this summer, with the Englishman recognising that he is unlikely to be a regular under Wenger next season.
Gibbs is a player that has so often been on the periphery of the Arsenal first team, and that is disappointing given how talented he really is. Whilst not the most flamboyant player in the world, Gibbs has often been a reliable hand for the Gunners when available – delivering excellent performances on the left-hand side of the Arsenal defence.
He made just 8 starts in the Premier League last season, with Nacho Monreal often preferred, and so a move away will almost certainly afford him more regular game time.
