27-year-old wants to play for Arsenal next season – report

Some of the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern had forgotten that Wojciech Szczesny still played for the club…

Nonetheless, it appears as though they could be seeing a lot more of him next season – with the Independent reporting that the goalkeeper is expecting to return to the Emirates this summer, and he is seemingly keen to push Petr Cech for a starting berth.

The return of Szczesny is not something that the Gunners in the pub have been expecting, given how long it has been since he last played for the club.

Of course, he is currently on loan in Italy with Roma, where he has impressed for the Serie A giants. The loan followed a pretty poor season for the Gunners, and with the arrival of Petr Cech, there has been no real space for the Polish shot-stopper in the Arsenal first team.

That being said, Cech has struggled somewhat this year, and many in the pub are calling for him to be replaced. Could a Szczesny return facilitate that? Our landlord thinks so…
