According to the Spanish publication Marca, Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema has stated that he wants to stay in Madrid and help Los Blancos secure La Liga and Champions League crowns.
The 23 year-old believes the Spanish capital, under Mourinho’s guidance is the best place for him to reach his full potential.
The former Lyon strikers’ admission has effectively put an end to any speculation linking him with a move away from Madrid. Despite being heavily linked to Arsenal, Karim has told L’Equipe
“My place is at this club, I have never talked to Mr Wenger or anyone else. I want to enjoy success here. I have found my self-belief. This season, I know we will win titles”.
During the last campaign, the French international netted an impressive 26 times in 48 appearances, despite spending the majority of the season on the bench, playing second fiddle to Gonzalo Higuain and then ex-Arsenal man, Emmanuel Adebayor.
Wanted by Wenger for sometime, Benzema was seen by many as the perfect centre-forward for the gunners, quick, strong and with a keen eye for goal, the striker was heavily linked to a £27 bid earlier on in the transfer window.
With his declaration of intent for the upcoming season, Benzema seems determined to prove his worth at a club where the expectation levels are like that of no other club side.
