29-year-old ‘expects’ Man City move this summer – report

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are concerned about their side’s lack of defensive solidity…

It’s been a decent start to the season for the Citizens, but a draw at the hands of Everton has left the supporters in the pub fearing the worst. Thanks to a great goal from Raheem Sterling, Man City were able to avoid defeat, but given the quality of Pep Guardiola’s first team, they were expected to impress far more than they did.

In truth, the majority of Man City’s team is fantastic. Offensively, they’re lethal in the attack, whilst they’ve also improved in the middle of the park. One area in which they are lacking, though, is at the back.

The return of Vincent Kompany is a huge boost, but with question marks over the heads of John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi, Pep Guardiola really has his work cut out for the season.

Fortunately, it appears as though more depth could be forthcoming, with the Mirror reporting that Jonny Evans is expecting a move to the club to be completed over the next week.

Man City have already reportedly had a move rejected for the defender, but Pep Guardiola appears very keen to get his man, and so it is noted that another move is forthcoming.

Whilst he isn’t a big name like the likes of Bernardo Silva or Kevin De Bruyne, Evans has been one of the Premier League’s most consistent defenders in recent years, and so he’ll be a decent option should he make the move.

Landlord’s Verdict

Not every signing can be a glamorous one. Indeed, sometimes what teams need is no-nonsense stability, and that is exactly what they will get with Jonny Evans.

He’s a Premier League winner, let’s not forget, and his performances for West Brom have proven that he deserves another chance at the top.

The Northern Irishman will be a fantastic depth option.
