The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been really impressed with Mauricio Pochettino’s focus on youth development…
A number of young stars have broken in the Tottenham first team in recent years, with the latest prodigy at White Hart Lane being Harry Winks.
The young midfielder has looked seriously impressive whenever he has been given a chance by Mauricio Pochettino, with his dynamic dribbling and delicate passing delighting the Tottenham faithful in the Tavern.
It isn’t just Pochettino that is being impressed by Winks, either, with Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen issuing a bold claim about how he expects Winks to develop at Tottenham.
According to the Evening Standard, he said: “He’s a great player and for me, he can be the next Dele Alli or Harry Kane”.
He continued: “There is lots of competition in midfield but he’ll be a very good player for Tottenham over the years.”
That is some high praise from Vertonghen indeed. After all, Kane and Dele Alli have, arguably, been Tottenham’s best players this season. Dele Alli has been lethal in front of goal lately, whilst Harry Kane has maintained his enviable goalscoring record this season for the Lilywhites.
It is important to remember that Harry Winks is just 21-years-old, and if Pochettino keeps involving him in first team duties at White Hart Lane – he is only going to get better.
