The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are still celebrating their side’s victory against Swansea City at the weekend…
It was a dominant victory from the Red Devils, with Jose Mourinho’s side storming to a second successive 4-0 victory in the Premier League.
After the game, though, Juan Mata has admitted that the scoreline didn’t quite reflect the game, with Swansea’s performance not deserving of such a thrashing.
Discussing the game on his blog, he said: “In terms of football, the week ends with a very good feeling again, following another convincing victory, although perhaps the score was too high”.
Always humble, Mata clearly believes that whilst his side deserved to win, they weren’t as dominant as the scoreline suggested. This is not only important as a matter of principle, but it also suggests that the Red Devils – and particularly Mata – are keen to improve and continue to develop.
Still, a win is a win, and the Spaniard is clearly very happy with the result, as he should be. After picking up another 4-0 win on the opening day against West Ham, things are looking very good at Old Trafford.
Mata certainly has a point, as Man Utd were not as dominant as the scoreline would make you think.
They deserved to win, but Swansea had a few decent chances, and it seemed as though the Welsh side’s heads just dropped for a few minutes – and Man Utd took advantage.
Still, don’t take anything away from Man Utd. They looked good, and they’re certain to challenge for the title this season.
