With the summer window slammed shut we here at the Transfer Tavern would like to bring your attention to the upcoming January window...

It may well be a few months away from now but clubs will already be setting their sights on potential signings, and scouts will be well and truly distributed all around the world.

With that said, we want to look at Manchester City in particular and some players from the German  Bundesliga they should look to bring to the Etihad.

After all, Pep Guardiola knows the league very well after his stint with Bayern, so our landlord is backing him to use his experience to bring the best out of the league.

We have seen the positive impact players from Germany have made in England in years gone by - and our landlord thinks that these players can do the same.

With that said, let's take a look at the THREE hidden gems Manchester City should sign in January.

 Max Meyer

Max Meyer

The 21-year-old German midfielder currently plays for Schalke and he is the ideal player for the City boss, with his ability to move the ball, as well as his ability to look intelligently for the right pass - rather than panic under pressure.

The youngster has been a key player since his breakthrough into the first team 2 years ago just like current Citizen Leroy Sane.

This deal would make sense for both parties with Meyer looking to further his career and for Man City with one eye on the future.

Make it happen, Pep.

 Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich

This is a no brainer - our landlord feels its a match made in heaven.

The 21-year-old was brought into Bayern by Guardiola from RB Leipzig and he has progressed to become one of the best young versatile players around.

His ability to play in a full-back position but also in the middle of the park is what attracts Pep to him the most. We have seen thus far that he likes his full-back to play in a more central role when they push up - like Zabaleta and Kolarov have consistently done.

But with their current options ageing - this deal would really be a brilliant bit of business by Manchester City.

Jonathan Tah

Jonathan Tah

The young Leverkusen center-back is a favorite of the punters in the Football Transfer Tavern.

This kid has talent in abundance. Not only that but he too has versatility - he can play in the center-back position as well as also being able to play out wide.

This is another thing we have learnt from Guardiola - he likes to mix up players positions. For example, recently, when Kolarov has featured in a center-back role - which hasn't been seen before.

Tah would be perfect for Guardiola.
