3 essential bets for this weekend

Sergio AgueroIt’s Friiiidaayyyyy! Another epic weekend to look forward to in the Premier League and FA Cup. Thomas Rooney of footballtips.com brings us three essential bets.

Before we get on with the tips, anyone else massively in the World Cup mood this week? There were tons of international friendly matches during the week and it really wet the appetite.

There were the usual England related moaners, but that’s normal now. They’ll still be cheering the team on this summer won’t they? It’s definitely time to get behind the Three Lions.

On the subject of Roy Hodgson’s men, please tell me Daniel Sturridge on the wing won’t be the norm? He’s the most in-form English striker around and HAS to be played down the middle.

If this means Wayne Rooney drops deeper – that’s all good too. Let’s be honest, he does that anyway doesn’t he? Sturridge is key to England having a good tournament. Use him properly Roy.

Right, on with the tips…

Norwich to beat Stoke 1-0

If Norwich stay up – which I think they will – it will be down to their home form. It’s four successive clean sheets for Chris Hughton’s men and they are well set up for another one this weekend.

Taking on Stoke a week after their reverse at Aston Villa, there will be a ‘must-win’ feeling in the air and this has a habit of resulting in a narrow home victory.

Given that the Potters aren’t exactly full of goals and their main man Charlie Adam being out injured, backing a correct score for the Canaries could be profitable.

It was 1-0 Norwich in this fixture last season, so let’s back the same again. Ladbrokes are offering 13/2.

Chelsea to beat Spurs and BTTS

The stand out Premier League game this weekend sees Chelsea host Tottenham on Saturday evening. It should be a lively one at Stamford Bridge, with both teams going for broke.

Jose Mourinho’s men are always more adventurous at home, while Tim Sherwood’s men naturally attack teams when on their game. Two successive wins should mean this is a certainty too.

Spurs haven’t won at Chelsea in many, many years and although they’ll give it a good go – this run is set to continue. With Eden Hazard at his inspirational best, the Blues will be too strong.

Best bet for this one? Home win, but both teams to score at 13/5, again with Ladbrokes. It should be a cracking Saturday Night Football.

Aguero to score twice or more

Sergio Aguero is fit again for Manchester City and set to start on Sunday as Manuel Pellegrini’s men host Wigan in the FA Cup.

This is a re-run of last year’s final and one the home side will be determined to win. Revenge will definitely be a motivation and we all know about Vincent Kompany’s attitude – he’ll have his team fired up.

A motivated, determined Man City side playing at home with Aguero leading the line? This can only mean one thing – goals for the Argentina international.

The former Atletico man has scored twice or more on five occasions this season and we expect him to make it six. Coral are offering 3/1.
