The City fans in the Transfer Tavern are drinking in relief today as their club didn’t provide one of the shock results of the opening weekend.
The Premier League has returned to our TV screens and stadiums across the country after what has felt like an eternity.
There were many surprises on the opening day, but one fixture which saw the result that was completely expected was Manchester City’s 2-0 victory against Brighton at the Amex.
Pep Guardiola’s side were held until quite late on in the game by a driven Brighton team in their first ever Premier League game.
However, two late goals from Sergio Aguero and an own goal from Lewis Dunk gave the Sky Blues all three points on the opening day.
It wasn’t a bad performance from Chris Houghton’s side at all and there were times where they could have taken the lead against the former Premier League champions.
