3 Way Premiership Race Could Be A Non Starter As Bayern Loom

Arsene Wenger is apparently lining up Blackburn’s Junior Hoilett as the first part of his planned overhaul at Arsenal this summer.

Despite currently sitting in fourth place, Arsenal have had a poor season and although injuries have played a big part, Wenger has realised his team needs a radical rebuilding sooner rather than later.

Winger Hoilett, has been the stand-out performer in a struggling Blackburn team this season, and the Metro reports that Arsenal are ready to join Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle, in the race for his signature.

The report suggests that Hoilett will join to replace the misfiring Andrey Arshavin, but I would guess that the Canadian winger was already on Wenger’s radar after numerous impressive performances this season.

The 21-year-old has often been Blackburn’s saviour in a disappointing season, weighing in with three goals and four assists.

Apart from Robin Van Persie, Arsenal’s attackers have been poor this season, and Hoilett could be the boost they need ahead of a rejuvenation this summer.

Wenger will face stiff competition from Bayern Munich though, as well as Liverpool and North London rivals, Spurs. Hoilett is thought to want to stay in the Premier League so Arsenal will have to move quickly to secure their man.

Hoilett would definitely offer more than Arsenal’s current wingers. He is much more intelligent that Theo Walcott, and seems to play with the kind of confidence that Arsenal need right now.

I think that a move to the Emirates Stadium would be good for Hoilett, especially if they make it into next season’s Champions League. He can shine in a team which will be in transition, whilst learning the game. Wenger’s reputation with guiding young players may also play a part.

If Arsenal do get into the top four, I would expect them to be in pole position for Hoilett’s signature, however if Spurs are also serious, a lot could depend on who their next manager is. Either way, Hoilett’s most likely destination is probably North London.
