Manchester United are set for a summer overhaul having appointed former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho as their new manager.
With the Portuguese is set to come a flood of Europe’s finest players, potentially including the likes of the enigmatic Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Germany’s Julien Draxler. Valencia’s highly rated midfielder Andre Gomes, Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba are a few of many that make up the Red Devil’s mouth watering hit list.
The question on the lips of many – if United are indeed to attract themselves such a plethora of world stars – is what happens to those players at the club who guided United to their first silverware in 3 seasons by winning the FA Cup?
Former manager Louis Van Gaal had seemingly turned the tide on the clubs fortunes half way through last campaign when he introduced a number of young players into his squad.
Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard were the stand-out pair in what became a fresh-faced and more energetic United.
Jose Mourinho is not famed for playing young players, so it seems there is little room for such youngsters at Old Trafford next season.
A number of Premier League clubs could benefit from United and Mourinho’s potential failure to acknowledge their own talent, one of those being the Portuguese’s old club Chelsea.
Antonio Conte should keep his beady eye on the proceedings at United, as he could find himself a steal if the Reds’ youngsters look elsewhere for the promise of first team football.
