Benfica and Argentinean winger Nicolas Gaitan has played down rumours linking him a big money move to Premier League champions Manchester United.
The 23-year-old playmaker is adamant that he is happy with life in Portugal and has no intention of leaving. The promising wide player has impressed the United boss in this seasons Champions League when the two clubs have met, and would have to fork up an enormous fee of £40 million to sway the Portuguese club to sell one of their most prized assets.
The Argentinean starlet set up the first goal in Benfica’s 2-2 draw at Old Trafford and has been instrumental to their success so far. Manchester United are not shy of wide players either, they do have Young, Nani, Valencia and Giggs. I’m sure Fergie wouldn’t be too eager to spend over the odds for another wide player despite his promising potential.
However Gaitan is not only on United’s radar, he has been heavily linked with a move to Europe’s elite clubs, but the South American insists it is just paper talk and that nothing is concrete.
The 23-year-old said: ‘Manchester? I am very content for the moment at Benfica. I am very happy to be here with a team that is fighting to win important titles.’
‘About my future, I will only say that I have signed a deal with Benfica and nobody has told me that things will change. For now I will be staying with Benfica.’
