£44.6m Arsenal target rules out Premier League transfer

AubameyangArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been refilling their pints with their own tears, after hearing that a phenomenal target of theirs has ruled-out a move to the Premier League this month.

The Daily Mail quotes Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as ruling out an exit from the Bundesliga side, amid speculation that Arsenal had lodged a club-record offer of £44.6m to the Gabonese forward.

Aubameyang was named African Football of the Year last night after his prolific form for Dortmund in the past year, which has significantly raised his profile. This season he already has 18 Bundesliga goals, leading the way in the German scoring charts.

However, quoted by The Sun, Aubameyang has ruled-out a transfer this month and has assured Dortmund fans he will be staying put.

“I don’t want to go to Arsenal. I won’t leave Dortmund soon.”

Arsenal wanted the striker to add more competitiveness to their forward line, alongside Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott, whilst the punters in the bar were unanimous in their agreement that Arsenal would be guaranteed the Premier League title if they landed the former St Etienne forward.

If Arsenal still want a striker though, they will have to pursue other targets and there’s not many out there our landlord believes would be a significant improvement on their current options.
