It seems the summer has finally come where Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero will leave Atletico Madrid for pastures new and take his rightful place among football’s elite.
Every year, the name Aguero is bandied around with gusto, being attached to any club with a bit of dosh, and the Argentinian is always ‘certain to leave’. Each year so far, Aguero has publicly denied interest in leaving and has held on at Atletico for longer than he should have done. However – this summer is different.
“After five intense years, this stage is over for me personally and I have to give way to a new one.
I’m about to turn 23 and I have everything before me.”
So who will bag this £45 million man? Meet the contenders;
Real Madrid : A move across the city would be controversial to say the least, but an excellent deal at that. Spanish pundits suggest the move is not an impossibility, but would prove one of the most unpopular decisions for Atletico fans in decades.
Manchester City : Even without recouping financial costs from a potential Carlos Tevez sale, Man City could afford Aguero with ease. There are countless City fans calling for the recruitment of Aguero, as his addition could well make the Manchester club unstoppable.
Juventus : The Old Lady have supposedly already had bids rejected for Aguero but they are still in the running. A disappointing campaign last season saw them finish outside of any European competition places and want to inject some ability into their squad to turn their fortunes around.
It looks certain that Aguero will finally leave this summer but which is the best club for him? Who will win the three-horse race to sign this Argentinian goal machine? In which league would he enjoy the most success?
