This transfer window looks set to be one of the most important in Arsenal’s history. Arsene Wenger has been given a £70 million warchest to invest in players he believes will end the club’s eight-year wait for a trophy, and launch an assault on the Premier League title.
Whereas in previous windows the clubs supporters have been fretting about which players are set to depart the club, this time around is different.
The Gunners have been linked with a host of exciting talents, and whilst the clubs supporters are slightly anxious a deal is yet to materalise for any of those names mentioned in the press – particularly Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain – it certainly beats worrying about the future of losing the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie.
Inevitably however, there will be some outgoings. With expensive talent due to walk through those Emirates Stadium doors this summer, we take a look at five players Wenger should consider ditching in order to make way for those he feels can help the team to finally end their trophy drought.
