5 best Manchester United goals of 2013/14 so far

Robin Van Persie 1st v Swansea 1Whilst Manchester United have endured a difficult start to the season, not one fan inside the Football Transfer Tavern has written them off just yet.

If we have learnt anything down the years watching Premier League football, it is rule out United at your peril.

Of course, Sir Alex Ferguson is no longer the man in charge, and his successor David Moyes has taken a fair bit of stick since his arrival at Old Trafford.

But the former Everton boss will continue to tell anyone who will listen that he is the man to turn things around.

And there is no doubt he has the players at his disposal to succeed.

David De Gea is fast becoming one of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers, whilst Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic have been one of the Premier League’s best centre back partnerships of all-time for several years.

And you would be hard pushed to find a better strikeforce than Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie anywhere across Europe.

Saturday saw another disappointing result, as Southampton snatched a late equaliser at Old Trafford, meaning Moyes’ boys stay in ninth position, eight points off league leaders Arsenal.

But positives to take from the game were the performance of teenager Adnan Januzaj, and the fact Robin van Persie found himself back on the goal trail.

While it’s hardly been a season to remember so far for United, the Dutchman features heavily in our countdown of their five best United goals of their season so far.
