It’s been another very good weekend for Chelsea fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern, who watched their side maintain their lead the top of the Premier League with a comfortable 3-1 win over Fulham.
A second half hat-trick from Andre Schurrle was the difference, after a first half performance that was so poor it prompted Jose Mourinho’s team talk to consist of just six words: “It’s your s***, sort it out” according to reports.
The Blues did just that, and opened up a four point gap over Arsenal following their defeat at Stoke City, and a six point gap over Manchester City – although Manuel Pellegrini’s side now have two games in hand.
With the title race set to go right down to the wire, Jose Mourinho continues to write off his teams chances, despite them being favourites in may peoples eyes.
The Blues have quietly gone about their business all season, often winning games in an unspectacular fashion.
Mourinho continues to tell anyone who will listen that this season is not about winning the Premier League, and is simply about laying the foundations for an assault on all fronts at the start of the next campaign.
That may well include promoting some promising Chelsea youngsters to the first team set up, with the likes of Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and John Terry all heading towards the twilight of their Blues careers.
