It’s been an excellent start to the season for Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers.
Back-to-back 1-0 wins have lifted everyone at Anfield after a difficult summer which has revolved around the future of Luis Suarez.
In the Uruguayan’s absence, Daniel Sturridge has led the way with two fine goals to earn the Reds 6 points out of a possible 6, whilst Phillipe Coutinho and new signing Iago Aspas have started the season with real promise.
What perhaps has been most pleasing for Rodgers is the fact his side have managed back-to-back clean sheets, thanks in no small part to summer signings Kolo Toure and Simon Mignolet.
Toure has endeared himself to the Kop already with a couple of excellent displays alongside Daniel Agger in the heart of the Liverpool defence, whilst Mignolet finished his debut with a last minute penalty save against Stoke, and then denied Christian Benteke with two fine saves at Villa Park last Saturday.
However the Liverpool boss is well aware he is lacking depth in his defensive department. Martin Skrtel’s future remains up in the air, whilst Sebastian Coates is set to miss the entire season after picking up a ligament injury on international duty with Uruguay.
Rodgers has confirmed this injury is set to force him back into the market before the deadline in search of a new centre back.
Here we have identified five possible candidates for the Reds boss to consider.
