Manchester United fans find themselves in the unfamiliar position of heading into the Easter period with just pride left to play for, in what has been a desperately disappointing debut season in charge for David Moyes.
Wednesday night saw United eliminated from the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich, and whilst it was a result that most expected, it still left fans hurting at the prospect of no silverware and no place amongst Europe’s elite next season for the first time in 18 years.
David Moyes remains adamant that United will still be able to attract the top talent, despite the lack of Champions League football on offer for next season.
But with the Bundesliga and La Liga the prime destinations for Champions League clubs to hunt new recruits, United may find themselves needing to think outside the box in order to recruit top talent.
One place they could have a look is the Eredivisie.
The Dutch league is not as highly regarded as those in Spain, Germany and Italy, but top talents the likes of Luis Suarez and Christian Eriksen have made the switch to the Premier League in recent years.
Here we have taken a look at five Eredivisie stars that could be useful additions at Manchester United.
