There is no doubting the pressure is on David Moyes once that transfer window opens on January 1st.
The United boss endured a torrid time in the transfer market during the summer, and only managed to complete the signing of the overpriced Maraoune Fellaini.
Moyes has insisted he will look to sign players in January, but only those he deems to be the right fit for the club.
In other words, he will not be forced into any panic signings, which may prove difficult considering the way in which he was criticised for failure to bring in any of the clubs top targets over the summer.
One area in which Moyes may finds he excels in January is signing players from the lower leagues.
He became something of an expert of it during his time at Everton, signing the likes of Tim Cahill from Millwall and Leighton Baines who had impressed in the lower league with Wigan Athletic.
Both went on to become established Premier League stars at Goodison Park, and Moyes ability to spot talent such as this was no doubt one of the main reasons behind the decision to stick him in the Old Trafford hotseat.
The chance to develop some lower league talent might just be his saving grace at Old Trafford, after a summer spent trying and failing to sign established stars.
Here, we have identified five Football League stars believed to be on Manchester United’s radar.
