Tottenham have the chance to put their week from hell behind them when they take on Manchester United at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Andre Villas-Boas’ side got back to winning ways in the Europa League last night, picking up a 2-0 win away to Tromso.
Whilst that will do little to banish the memories of last Sunday’s horror show at the Etihad Stadium, it is at least a step in the right direction for AVB, who this week has had to answer questions surrounding his future at the club.
The former Porto and Chelsea manager insists he has the backing of the Tottenham board, and he fully expects to stay at White Hart Lane.
And if that is so, he will once again be given money to spend in the January transfer window.
Tottenham spent over £100 million in the summer on new playing talent, which has been one of the main reasons for the fierce criticism they have received so far this season.
Nine league goals all season is simply not good enough for a team who spent millions bringing the likes of Erik Lamela, Paulinho and Roberto Soldado to the Premier League.
Tottenham fans have been debating in the Football Transfer Tavern as to whether AVB will look for established stars once more, or perhaps gamble on some young talent from the lower leagues.
If the latter proves to be correct, we have identified 5 football league stars that may well be on Tottenham’s radar.
