Here in the Football Transfer Tavern we have been suitably impressed with Liverpool’s start to the new season.
The Reds have claimed four victories and have only experienced one defeat as they sit second in the Premier League following their best start in the memorable result that came back at the start of September as Brendan Rodgers’ side beat Premier League champions and arch-rivals Manchester United 1-0 thanks to Daniel Sturridge.
There is a real positive vibe among the Reds supporters in the tavern but rather than concentrating on the here and now, today’s talk has been more of a nostalgic look back at some of the Reds’ former players that they would love to see back playing at Anfield.
The discussion has been brought about by footage shown on the 32-inch plasma in the bar as the unforgettable 2005 Champions League final is repeated as the landlord tries to encourage the positive mood among the Anfield faithful.
We have now given the selection of fans a list of ten former Reds who we believe could improve the current ranks and now punters have whittled a final list down to five players who we would all love to see wearing the famous Liver bird again.
