Reports this week have reached the Football Transfer Tavern claiming Andre Villas-Boas has just one month to save his Tottenham job.
The Portuguese coach has come under fire in recent weeks, as Tottenham have turned out some below par performances and come away with some dreadful results.
The 6-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium a fortnight ago really made everyone sit up and take notice, and in the two weeks that have followed it seems all that anyone has to say on Tottenham is that they should be doing a hell of a lot better for a team that spent over £100 million in the summer.
For Villas-Boas it is not that simple, as he is quickly trying to get basically a whole new team to gel and play decent attacking football that will see them challenging the Premier League summit.
It hasn’t worked out quite yet, with big money signings such as Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado still yet to show their best form.
Soldado in particular has struggled.
The £26 million man signed from Spain specifically to score goals has managed just one from open play all season, whilst Jermain Defoe has hit nine in Europe and the cup competitions.
Defoe’s excellent goal scoring record is still not enough to get him regular starts in the Premier League, and rumours persist he will be sold in January.
If so, Tottenham will need a replacement capable of scoring the amount of goals Defoe has for Tottenham down the years.
Here we take a look at five possible replacements we feel would be ideal.
