5 January ‘bargain signings’ for Manchester United to snap up

Mateo MusacchioHere in the Football Transfer Tavern, our landlord has asked us to compile a list of January bargains that Manchester United could well bring into the club.

As one of our punters looks up from their beer and breakfast, they note that the club should be breaking the bank to sign world class players, not scraping around for a bargain in the sales! It is hardly like they have to worry about the money they have spent in the summer after all!

United fans now feel that their club are firmly back in the title race, if they were ever out of it that is, and want Moyes and the board to spend big this winter. As we try and point out to them, sometimes you do not have to spend a lot to get a top quality bargain.

Look at all the previous January flops who have cost huge money or the ones who were brought in on the cheap and now have excelled. Real Madrid keeper Diego Lopez cost £3 million; probably the best money spent by Florentino Perez!

With that in mind, we take a look at five players who could be a bargain this winter for United.
