Eleven games into the Premier League season, and it is perhaps fair to say it has not gone quite how Tottenham fans had hoped.
Andre Villas-Boas has watched his side struggle to score from open play, and slump to home defeats to West Ham United and Newcastle United, whilst also watching his side come out second best in an eagerly anticipated North London derby.
It is not all doom and gloom however, as Tottenham still sit seventh in the league, just five points off the top, in what is shaping up to be an incredibly close season.
It is perhaps the performance level that has proved the most worrying, with AVB’s men shading victories over Crystal Palace, Swansea City and Hull City through penalties, and failing to inspire in a dull 0-0 draw at Goodison Park.
Rival supporters and press are eager to point out Tottenham should be doing better considering over £100 million was spent on new playing talent in the summer, following the world record departure of Gareth Bale.
But Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado are yet to hit anywhere near their best form, and some of the stars of last season such as Aaron Lennon and Mousa Dembele have struggled to get going.
Daniel Levy is expected to grant more funds for a big January recruitment, to ensure AVB has the best chance of gate crashing the top four.
With some mundane displays so far this season, we have identified five potential signings to get Tottenham fans off their seat.
