5 January signings to help Pochettino get Tottenham fans back on side

Paco AlcacerAfter a start to the season that promised so much with two wins from their first two, Tottenham have been on a steady downward spiral.

Mauricio Pochettino finds himself under pressure after just 11 league matches in charge, after watching Tottenham suffer four home defeats from five.

Stoke City joined Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool in becoming the fourth side to retrieve maximum points from White Hart Lane this season prior to the international break and Tottenham supporters showed their frustration by booing their side off the pitch.

Since then, Emmanuel Adebayor has come out and taken a swipe at the supporters and Pochettino has reportedly told the likes of Mousa Dembele, Kyle Naughton, Roberto Soldado and Adebayor himself that they have no long-term futures at the club.

The Argentine coach is in the position of having to sell before he can buy when the January transfer window opens with Tottenham still paying the price for the way in which they spent more than £100 million in the summer of 2013 and changing managers three times in the space of 12 months.

Pochettino insists he is not feeling the pressure but it is clear things need to turn around quickly in order to get the Tottenham fans back on side.

Here, we have identified five potential January signings that may help him to do just that.
