As we enter November, Manchester United fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern are feeling slightly better about things.
Four wins out of five in all competitions has lifted the mood around Old Trafford, which this time last month was probably at the lowest it had been since the early days of Sir Alex Ferguson.
David Moyes has picked up some much needed points, and performances overall seem to be improving.
But still, there is no doubting the new Manchester United boss will need to deliver a far improved performance in the next transfer window, after what can only be described as a shambolic display in the summer.
Maraoune Fellaini was the only new face to walk through the Old Trafford doors – and for £4 million too much at that – as Moyes missed out on deals for Cesc Fabregas, Luka Modric, and Ander Herrera.
There is no question United need to strengthen, with the midfield being the priority.
And as is always the case with United, hundreds of stories have emerged linking almost every player in Europe with a January switch to Old Trafford – some of which have raised more eyebrows than others.
Here we countdown the top five players linked with a move to Manchester United that we believe are simply not good enough.
