Liverpool fans have had a week to forget inside the Football Transfer Tavern.
It started on Saturday, when a predicted home banker turned out being a hard fought 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, a result which widened the gap at the top and allowed Tottenham to move level on points following their win at Swansea City.
Since then, there has been nothing but bad news for Brendan Rodgers side.
Defensive midfielder Lucas Leiva was initially ruled out for two months with a knee ligament injury picked up in the Villa game, although he has since taken to Twitter to reveal he may be back within a month.
And right back Glen Johnson has also been ruled out for ‘an indefinite period’ following an ankle injury sustained in the same game.
Rodgers was dealt a further – and perhaps most disappointing – blow yesterday, as news emerged Chelsea had hijacked the Reds proposed move for Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian winger was a player Rodgers had tracked for months, and a deal to bring his number one target seemed all but done and dusted.
Now the Reds find themselves with an ever growing injury list, and their top transfer target on his way to Stamford Bridge.
With just a week of the transfer window remaining, and with no new additions as of yet, we have identified five late raids for the Reds to consider.
