Manchester United fans will have not experienced a transfer window like this for many years.
By the 1st of August, Sir Alex Ferguson would have usually had at least a couple of big money signings either secured or on the verge of being completed.
But David Moyes’ first summer in charge of the Red Devils has proved testing so far to say the least.
The Scot is still awaiting his first marquee signing at Manchester United, after being left frustrated in his attempts to bring various players to Old Trafford.
So far he has only managed to bring Uruguayan starlet Guillermo Varela to Old Trafford with fellow new signing Wilfried Zaha having already been brought to the club by Ferguson.
Long-term target Thiago Alcantara opted for Bayern Munich instead of United, whilst Barcelona remain adamant Cesc Fabregas will be going nowhere.
There has also been the small matter of attempting to prevent Chelsea signing wantaway forward Wayne Rooney – a saga that appears to have occupied a lot of the new Manchester United manager’s time.
With the new Premier League season under two weeks away, United will need to hurry things along now.
Moyes can be forgiven for being slow off the mark, as having huge sums of money to spend is an entirely different ball game to him.
And if United can lure a couple of players that have had their name linked with the club so heavily all summer, than all will be forgiven.
