Chelsea have been surprisingly low key during this summer’s transfer window.
Jose Mourinho declared upon his arrival that he was a more happy and mature version of the man who patrolled the Chelsea touchline from 2004 to 2007, and his dealings in the transfer window so far have proved that statement correct.
The Portuguese tactician has quietly gone about his business since returning to Stamford Bridge, bringing in Andre Schurrle, Marco van Ginkel and Mark Schwarzer, whilst patiently biding his time to complete the marquee signing of Wayne Rooney from Manchester United.
It is a far cry from his first summer in charge at Stamford Bridge in 2004, when millions were being splashed far and wide to recruit players that would ultimately bring home two Premier League titles in the next three seasons.
Whilst Mourinho and Chelsea have been relatively quiet, two weeks ahead of the new season you can sense things perhaps beginning to hot up.
The gossip columns have added more names besides Rooney to possible incomings at Stamford Bridge, whilst Mourinho will no doubt want to trim some of the dead wood.
