If it hadn’t been for a certain Luis Suarez, Liverpool fans would have found themselves highly satisfied with their work in the transfer window so far.
Bar the slightly surprising departure of Pepe Reina, it’s been all incomings at Anfield.
The likes of Kolo Toure, Luis Alberto, Simon Mignolet and Iago Aspas were all snapped up within the first couple of weeks of July, proving the Reds had learnt their mistakes from the previous summer, when dawdling left them with one senior striker for the whole first half of the season.
Assuming Liverpool keep to their word and manage to hold onto Luis Suarez, things are looking very positive going into the new season.
Rodgers has far more attacking options at his disposal than this time last year, when he had to heavily rely on youngsters such as Raheem Sterling, Suso and Jonjo Shelvey to get Liverpool off to a decent league start.
This year you can read, Coutinho, Sturridge, Aspas, Alberto, Sterling, Downing and Suarez (perhaps), whilst Rodgers has told supporters they can expect further signings of ‘quality’ added to the group before the close of the window next month.
