5 ‘least likely’ Liverpool January signings and why

It has been far from the ideal start to the season for Liverpool, who have so far looked a pale shadow of the team that took the Premier League by storm last term.

The loss of Luis Suarez to Barcelona and Daniel Sturridge to injury has clearly had a major effect on a side trying to integrate a host of new players.

Brendan Rodgers was the busiest of all the managers during the summer transfer window, bringing in a total of nine new players.

Of those, Spanish full backs Javier Manquillo and Alberto Moreno have made positive early impressions, whilst Adam Lallana has shown recent signs of getting back to the kind of form he showed last season at Southampton.

The jury remains very much still out on the likes of Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, Dejan Lovren, Lazar Markovic and Mario Balotelli, so much so that the Reds have been linked with further new signings as early as January.

Having spent more than £100million on new talent in the new summer, further heavy January spending seems unlikely – despite what reports are telling us.

Here, we have identified five players we don’t see arriving at Anfield in January, and the reasons as to why.
