Arsenal responded to their midweek Champions League disappointment with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Sunderland yesterday.
The result was not enough to take the Gunners back to the top of the table, following Chelsea’s later win over Everton earlier in the day.
However Wenger’s men are still very much in the running to end their trophy drought with the Premier League title, sitting just a single point behind Jose Mourinho’s men.
The last month or so has hardly been perfect for the Gunners.
Their failure to add a major signing on transfer deadline day, the 5-1 hammering at Anfield, and the 2-0 defeat to Bayern at the Emirates Stadium in midweek, have all been major disappointments.
However, the convincing nature of yesterday’s win seems to have given renewed confidence in their pursuit of the title, whilst an FA Cup quarter final against Everton at the Emirates Stadium is just around the corner.
There are sure to be plenty more twists and turns from now until the end of the season involving the Gunners, although summer transfer business is virtually guaranteed.
The club reportedly have £150 million to spend in the summer, after signing a major sponsorship deal with sportswear brand Puma.
Now it just remains to be seen as to whether Wenger will be looking to attract players to join the Premier League champions, or offering Champions League football once more.
Here we have identified five Ligue 1 stars that could be on Arsenal’s summer transfer radar.
