Liverpool head into their clash with Manchester City on Sunday knowing that three points will see them established favourites for the Premier League title.
Brendan Rodgers’ side can move seven points clear of City with a win, and with just four games to play, three points would give everyone at Anfield genuine belief that their 24-year wait for a title is almost over.
Liverpool head into the game on the back of nine straight victories, a run that has seen them thrash the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham en-route to the summit of the Premier League.
Whilst all the talk surrounding the Reds of late has been whether they can claim their first league title since 1990, it has almost gone unnoticed that they look to have all but secured Champions League qualification.
This was considered Brendan Rodgers’ main objective at the start of the season, and the fact Liverpool look all but certain to make a return to Europe’s elite club competition for the first time since 2009 is a fantastic achievement in itself.
A return to the Champions League is also set to give the club a massive financial boost, and will give Rodgers the chance to bring in some of those ‘next level’ signings he has been talking about.
