Nerves are jangling for Liverpool fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern, as by the end of this week you feel everyone will know plenty more about what the Reds can achieve this season.
Brendan Rodgers side have a huge Merseyside derby to play this evening, against an Everton side who have emerged as genuine challengers for the fourth spot they currently occupy.
Then Friday sees the close of the January transfer window – with the Reds still yet to add any reinforcements this month, despite Rodgers obvious desire.
Liverpool once again missed out on a major transfer target last week, with Chelsea signing Mohamed Salah from FC Basel at the eleventh hour.
Rodgers as ever refused to give too much away at his pre match press conference yesterday, but did add he was hopeful the club could add some new additions in the final few days.
He said: “I’m just reluctant to bring in anyone that is just going to stockpile players. We need to bring in players that are really going to affect the starting XI. And if we can’t do that, then we won’t be doing anything.
“The club is working hard on that to find the players; it’s just a very difficult market to find the player and do a deal and to get it over the line. We won’t stop until the very end and hopefully we can.”
With that in mind, we have identified late raids the Reds could make to make up for missing out on Mohamed Salah.
