It’s been an unforgettable season for Liverpool supporters, despite the fact they look likely to miss out on the Premier League title to Manchester City on the final day tomorrow.
Reds fans find themselves in the unusual position of not knowing whether to celebrate their return to the Champions League, or mourn the fact the title which looked all but theirs a fortnight ago has now escaped their grasp.
Steven Gerrard’s unfortunate slip at Anfield, and the late capitulation at Selhurst Park on Monday night have left the Reds needing nothing but a win against Newcastle United tomorrow, and West Ham United to pick up an unlikely three points at the Etihad Stadium.
Whilst the 24 year wait for a league title seems unlikely to be ended tomorrow, any Liverpool supporter would have bitten your hand off at the start of the season had they been offered a sustained title challenge and a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2009.
That in itself has given Brendan Rodgers money to spend, and the chance to attract a different calibre of player.
But with certain incomings at Anfield planned this summer, there will surely be some departures.
