With England players having returned home after a dismal World Cup, Liverpool fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern note that it could mean a deal for Adam Lallana is finally tied up sooner rather than later.
The Reds have been chasing the Southampton captain since the end of the season, and had hoped to tie up a deal before he flew out to Brazil for the World Cup.
A final offer of £25 million was made on May 31st, however the Saints refused to budge until the arrival of their new manager was confirmed.
Ronald Koeman has since arrived on the south coast, and is understandably keen to hold onto the 26-year-old.
But reports over the past couple of days suggest that may be hard to do, as Lallana is said to be willing to submit a transfer request in order to push through his proposed move to Anfield.
It is set to be a busy summer at Liverpool, with the signings of Rickie Lambert from Southampton and Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen already confirmed.
And even if Lallana does arrive shortly, don’t expect that to be the end of the business.
With Champions League qualification expenses to spend and Brendan Rodgers desperate to strengthen his small squad, we can expect Liverpool to be one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market before the season restarts on August 16.
