Liverpool kicked off their pre-season schedule on Saturday with a comfortable 4-0 win over Preston North End at Deepdale.
Of the players that started that game, six were Brendan Rodgers signings, whilst summer recruits Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas both emerged from the bench. With Daniel Sturridge out injured, and from what we understand further signings to come, Rodgers’ second season in charge will feel very much more like his own team.
Add to this the fact that the young players Rodgers has done so well to introduce will play a bigger part next season and Liverpool could be set to mount a better challenge at breaching the Premier League’s top four.
Raheem Sterling came off the bench to fire an impressive third goal on Saturday, and the 18-year-old who was given an extended run in the first team by Rodgers last season has a lot more to offer this time around you feel.
But can we expect any more young players to make the step up this season? Pre season will be the ideal time to find out for the Liverpool manager. Here we have identified 5 young players to keep an eye out for before the season kicks off.
