Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were handed a surprise just after 7pm last night with the news that interim manager Ryan Giggs selected Red Devils kids Tom Lawrence and James Wilson to start in the penultimate game of the season against Hull City at Old Trafford.
Lawrence, 20, had been on loan at Championship outfit Yeovil Town and Wilson, 18, had been making waves in the Red Devils’ youth ranks, so much so that he earned a place on the first team bench at Newcastle United when David Moyes was still in charge.
It turned out to be a night that Wilson will never forget after bagging a brace on his full home debut at Old Trafford. This outing of course came on the back of the season from hell for Manchester United supporters, with the Red Devils having lost 12 Premier League games overall.
Having witnessed a glimpse of the future last night, Manchester United fans will be hopeful that a new Class of 92 may emerge in the coming seasons. On that note, we have devised a list of five more Red Devils kids who could well end up following Wilson into the first team reckoning at Old Trafford.
