5 Manchester United old boys they’d love back at Old Trafford

Ravel MorrisonA group of Manchester United fans have started reminiscing over a pint inside the Football Transfer Tavern – and not for the first time this season.

For many United fans, this is the first time in living memory they have started a season without Sir Alex Ferguson patrolling the touchline, chewing uncontrollably.

And for many, it hasn’t been easy.

David Moyes has had a mixed introduction to life in the Old Trafford hotseat.

Results have picked up recently, with a win over league leaders Arsenal, and Wednesday’s 5-0 win at Bayern Leverkusen the pick of the results.

But there has also been a defeat to Liverpool, a 4-1 battering at Manchester City, a 2-1 home defeat to West Bromwich Albion, and a transfer window where just about everything went wrong.

Those moments have certainly had United fans reminiscing over the good old days under Sir Alex, and the conversation has been turned to which former players they would most like to see back at Old Trafford.

Despite all his success, Sir Alex let a fair few talented stars leave the club in his final few years, many of whom have gone on to do very well elsewhere.

With that in mind, we have picked out five United old boys the fans would love to see back at Old Trafford – even if they wouldn’t admit it.
