Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been wondering just how much more time they would be spending in the pub, if they were earning an Ed Woodward football salary.

The salaries in which people get paid to kick a ball in the modern age has become a hot topic in the world of sport, and it seems there is no limit to how much these heavyweight clubs are willing to pay their top players in order to secure their services.

Wayne Rooney earns £300,000-a-week at Manchester United.

To put that into perspective, in one year, Rooney could pay off over 500 UK university students’ entire student loan debts (typically £27,000). That would be much appreciated Wayne.

Players like Juan Sebastien Veron, Anderson and Eric Djemba Djemba are all well-known mismatches who spent considerable time at in Manchester earning lucrative salaries, and so the Transfer Tavern have analysed FIVE current Manchester United players who are stealing a living themselves......

Adnan Januzaj

The Belgian ‘wonderkid’ is reportedly taking home £60,000-a-week at Manchester United in deal that was signed three years ago.

At 21-years-of age, during his time in Manchester Januzaj has made £8.5million, before tax, despite only making 45 senior appearances for the club.

It's hard to argue that this kid hasn't been stealing at Old Trafford.

Guillermo Varela

Guillermo VarelaGuillermo Varelam

Varela has only made 3 appearances at right-back for United’s senior squad despite being at the club for three years.

The Uruguayan is taking home £40,000-a-week which means, at 23-years-of-age, he’s made £5million before tax since arriving in Manchester.

Bastien Schweinsteiger

Schweinsteiger

Schweinsteiger was always a risk for United when he was first signed due to his increasing injury concerns and it seems the risk has not paid off for the Red Devils.

According to reports, Bastien is reportedly earning £275,000-a-week and is contracted to Manchester United until 2018.

The German has a season plagued with injuries and it’s likely there will be many more in the coming two seasons.

Schweinsteiger will have made £28million before tax once he leaves Manchester United, an dour landlord simply cannot believe that astronomical figure!

Marouane Fellaini

The Belgian has made 60 appearances since David Moyes signed the Everton man in 2013.

He hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular starter for either Moyes or Van Gaal since his move, and is making £80,000-a-week in a red shirt.

Phil Jones

Phil Jonesm

Jones has only made 10 appearances for United this season and is in his last year of his five-year contract.

The English defender earns £50k-a-week, and it's hard to see where he has paid his worth this season.

Before tax, the Englishman has made £12million since being at Manchester United and he is only 24-years-of-age.
