A rarity; I have a day off. However that doesn’t stop me popping into the Football Transfer Tavern for a ‘quick-one’ but I knew I shouldn’t of.
As I walked in, news broke that Everton had rejected another bid from Manchester United for star duo Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini. Well that was it; the place erupted into life and I could see the bar staff were struggling.
As assistant landlord, I never really have a day off, so I had expected this and didn’t mind helping out while the punters discussed the £25 million valuation on each player Roberto Martinez has placed.
One United customer made a good point, and that was the fact Fellaini had a £23.5 million release fee clause and no one deemed him worthy of that valuation, so why should the Red Devils pay more than that?
This sparked an interesting chat in the tavern and the punters mentioned a few names that David Moyes should make a move for if they do decide to call time on their pursuit for the Belgium international.
