Now England’s disastrous World Cup campaign has officially come to a close, the conversation in the Football Transfer Tavern has turned to the return of Premier League football.
Manchester United fans reckon they will still be keeping a close eye on events in Brazil, after their new manager Louis van Gaal guided the Dutch national side to three wins out of three in Group B, and a second round clash with Mexico this weekend.
And it appears their new manager isn’t half bad at multi-tasking either, with reports from The Independent today suggesting a move for Southampton’s Luke Shaw is imminent, with United having submitted a staggering offer of £34 million for the teenage defender.
Shaw has been on United’s radar for a long time, and the fact they have seemingly managed to beat Chelsea – the club Shaw is said to have supported as a boy – to his signature, will be a big boost going into the new season.
United fans hope the transfer business doesn’t stop there either, despite the massive fee set to be spent on a teenager with 18 months of Premier League experience.
The word ‘rebuild’ has become frequent in United supporters vocabulary, and a number of big money signings are expected before the Premier League makes it’s return on August 16.
