5 missed opportunities for Manchester United this summer

2_3568_David_Moyes-600x450The opening day of the season could not have gone much better for David Moyes and Manchester United, despite a testing summer in the transfer market.

Saturday’s 4-1 victory at Swansea was the perfect repost to those who had claimed United would struggle without Sir Alex Ferguson, especially since his replacement had failed to bring in any major reinforcements over the summer.

Whilst Moyes has made an excellent start, and the quality in his current squad (mainly Robin Van Persie) is there for all to see, there are still another 37 league games to play, as well as both cups and the Champions League.

Moyes is under no illusions his squad will not need strengthening, and there is no getting away from the fact the new Manchester United manager has struggled in the transfer market so far.

The lack of business undertaken at Old Trafford in the close season has left many questions for United fans to ponder. Is it down to Moyes lack of experience? Is there money available?

Whatever the questions, United have not been without their chances to do some good business this summer.
