After a summer of discontent at St. James’ Park, Newcastle United fans seem pretty upbeat at present.
Alan Pardew’s side are enjoying an excellent run of form, which has seen them win their last four Premier League games to climb as high as sixth in the table.
Pardew seems to have rediscovered the midas touch that made him a hero on Tyneside in his first full season, as he guided the Magpies to a fifth place finish which saw them narrowly miss out on Champions League football.
After promptly being awarded with an incredible eight-year contract, Pardew found last season tough as he looked to replicate the same sort of success.
The Magpies only narrowly avoided relegation, despite spending big on Ligue 1 talent on January.
They were heavily expected to spend in the summer, but only Loic Remy was bought in on loan by the new controversially appointed director of football, Joe Kinnear.
But after a slow start to the season, it seems Pardew’s January recruits from across the channel have finally settled, and there is talk of more being added in the transfer window.
With that in mind, we have identified five more Ligue 1 stars currently on the Magpies’ radar.
